Since December 7, 2010 – within ten days of the launch of Cablegate –
an arbitrary and unlawful financial blockade of payments to WikiLeaks
has been imposed by Bank of America, VISA, MasterCard, PayPal and
Western Union. The attack has destroyed 95% of their revenue.
Without your support, they may not survive. And we need WikiLeaks more than ever.
As we see Obama entering another four year term in the White House,
leading an administration that has thrown out many of the people’s
rights enshrined in the US Constitution, and which has indicted more
whistleblowers than any other in US history, we need WikiLeaks.
As we see detainees held in Guantanamo Bay dying without ever receiving a fair trial, we need WikiLeaks.
As multinational corporations make profits from the misery of others without being held to account, we need WikiLeaks.
As the surveillance state creeps inexorably into all our lives, and
governments extend their reach into our affairs while becoming more
secretive about their own, we need WikiLeaks.
For the defence of the voiceless; those without the power, money and
influence to dictate their message to the corporate media, we need
WikiLeaks.
